WHAT’S NEW on the Care Economy

STOP THE PROFITIZATION of CARE

DO YOU CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE CARE ECONOMY?

WE DO.

We are caregivers, community leaders, economists, academics, and policy advocates.

We want the next elections to focus on Canada’s social infrastructure.

WHO WE ARE

We believe that care is more than an expenditure. It’s an investment in people and good jobs. The pandemic is leading Canada to question old assumptions and envision a new path out of this public health and economic crisis. We’re proposing six principles to guide budget and ballot decisions.

OUR CARE ECONOMY STATEMENT

This statement is about the social infrastructure needed to help Canada recover from COVID-19.

It’s about people who need care and those who provide care, paid and unpaid.

It’s about the people in the care job market, mainly women, many of whom are underpaid and disproportionately immigrants, migrant workers, and racialized people.
